Both readings are wrong. Under the Electrical Safety Act 2002 (Qld) s18(1), installing, altering or connecting supply wiring to electrical equipment is electrical work, while s18(2)(p) and (q) exclude some connecting and disconnecting of prescribed equipment that remains at extra low voltage.

Can the strip go outside - along the patio, the steps or the garden beds?

No. The two IP figures published anywhere in the range sit on the drivers - IP67 on the 200W non-dimmable, IP20 on the 100W dimmable - and a rating describes the enclosure that was tested for it, never the strip, profile, controller, remote or garden light wired to that driver. Under IEC 60529 the classification is formal: a product either carries a rating or it carries none, and looking robust is not a substitute for one. What goes outside instead is the 9W and 6W DC24V RGB+CCT garden lights and fixture work, sharing the 5-in-1 controller with the interior system, so a patio, a set of steps or a garden bed is lit as part of the same design rather than by running strip out to it. Sheltered and protected positions for those are chosen by the licensed electrician when the design is drawn.

Do you actually install in Deception Bay?
