The City of Gold Coast keeps a public inventory of the city’s beaches and enumerates them one by one: 28 locations across a northern, a central and a southern group, from Main Beach and Surfers Paradise through Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach and Burleigh Heads down to Coolangatta and Rainbow Bay. Robina appears nowhere on that list.
It is a small fact with a large consequence for a lighting brief. On this coast a lighting enquiry usually arrives with an outside problem attached, and the interior scheme has to be designed around it. Here there is no such problem to design around, so none of the budget goes to solving it and the whole specification lands inside the building.
It also changes where one hard product limit falls. The ingress-protection boundary set out in this page’s FAQs takes something real off the table for a beachfront brief; on a Robina brief it costs this reader nothing, because nothing in the scheme was going to leave the building anyway.
What remains is an interior conversation, and the census supports treating it as one. On Census night 2021, 95.1% of Robina’s private dwellings were occupied, against 89.5% across the City of Gold Coast. These are rooms in daily use by the people who live in them, so they are lit for how a household actually moves through a house rather than for how a property presents in a photograph.
That is what a specification here is made of. Luxe’s own services page describes the work as ‘clean, seamless designs that are built into the space’ rather than fittings added to it, and indoors that puts most of the weight on the profile. The profile is what conceals the individual LEDs so a run reads as a line of light rather than a row of dots, which is why each Signature strip is specified with the aluminium profile sized to it – 10x10 to 10x10, 16x16 to 16x17. The driver is a separate component that has to live somewhere a person can still reach. The colour temperature has to hold from the kitchen through the hallway to whatever the hallway opens onto. Those are the decisions a Robina package is actually made of, and they are settled in the design consultation that each of the three published packages lists among its inclusions.
How the work runs
The WiFi and 2.4G control layer also runs the 24V RGB+CCT garden lights. Parts specified together can be named and re-ordered against each other later.
The published sequence after an enquiry is that the project details are reviewed, a lighting system is recommended, and a quote or purchase order is sent through.
